Can i legally drive a golf cart on town roads?

i live in a small town called corning new york, now everything i want to get to is within basically walking distance so i was thinking about purchasing a used golf cart instead of using a car all the time (saves on gas money) now would i be able to do this if i don't have it registered and i drive on mostly back roads and stay off the "main drag" as much as possible (and then driving on the shoulder) or is this illegal?

Depending on your juridstiction i would say that it would be illegal, you need to have your vehicle registered if driving it on public roads, the engine on the golf cart may not be big and that might mean you dont need it to be registered

I too do this in OHIO but our laws are a lot different than yours! here it's illegal but since I put a slow moving red and orange triangle on the back and hooked up lites to it and then i use hand signals same as you would on a bike, so far I haven't been given any hassles!!!

How do you start a new golf league?

first you need a golf course. then you need flyers. then you need ground rules.

the league at my homecourse has 12 teams with 8 players on each team. only 4 play per week(the rest are reserves) matchplay format and a win is 1 point and a tie is 1/2.

handicapping will be key though. i like the system that adjust every week. also once the match is over you must use the ncga handicap system to fill in the rest of your score card(to prevent after match sandbagging) for example if i am a 1 handicap for league(9 hole handicap) then i double making me a 2 for 18 holes. any handicapped holes that are above my handicap i must take a par. anything below i would have to take a bogey. this really does prevent sandbagging.

but ya u need to get the word out and maybe have a cash prizes at the end of league.

Someone told me the correct way to swing a golf club is to swing with the opposite arm of your dominant arm. Is this true?

It doesn't make any sense.

Golf is not a one arm sport as so many think. As a right hander, the left arm controls the takeaway but in unison with the right arm so that the proper torque, turn and length of backswing are constant and repeatable. The downswing is started by shifting weight from a toed or flatfoot position which plants the foot, which starts the hip turn, brings the arms down to a hitting position unleases the wrist cock, powers through the ball on line with the target with the velocity carrying the arms to a finished position with front facing the target.

You actually hit a golf ball with both arms and hands, but a right hander leads with his left arm. a great deal of the power still comes from the right arm and hand. there are many things about golf that don't seem to make sense initially.

It is true. As a right hander, your left hand and arm are dominant and the right arm and hand are for balance and guide.

Think about this, it is also true when swinging a baseball bat.
