Clone Golf Clubs Are They For You
I never gave much thought regarding knockoff or clone golf clubs I understood that they around but I just felt these were cheaply manufactured. But I found out they were practically the original be it Ping, Nike, TaylorMade, Calaway or any others.
What got me started off on this, being recently retired away from the Fire Dept, I thought why not take up golf again. I played while i was a young man but family, work and day to day life happened in the way. It had been probably 30 years since I had picked up a golf club. At some point walking thru Kmart I saw a cheap set of golf clubs, good old Dunlap, and so i figured I might as well buy them as they were so cheap.
Now a few months down the road I was golfing a couple times a week, doing OK with my cheap clubs. Then it hit me what I need is a nice driver so after investigating I found out I needed, a Nike driver, I thought if Tiger Woods used them, then they should help me.
So I went down to my local sports store and hit a few balls with a Nike Sumo, I thought yea this is what I need. So I purchased my Nike Sumo for just under $300. Now back out on the courses for a couple more months and I’m thinken,I don’t like this club. Not that there was anything wrong with the club I could drive pretty well with it and when I didn’t it was certainly my fault not the clubs. But believe it or not I didn’t like the sound it made when it hit the ball. It had a hollow tinny sound and I did not like it at all, I even had a couple people mention it had a weired sound.
Now I had a problem no way I wwas able go spend $300 on another golf club. So looking on the INTERNET I found clone golf clubs. After checking around I went to the Golf Discount Center. Having decided that I wanted a TaylorMade R9 driver. After some emails I was assured that their clone clubs were manufactured with exactly the same material and craftmanship as the brand name. As a matter of fact they often come from the same manufacturer. Also unlike the name brands they had a 30 day guarantee that they could be returned if I didn’t like them.
I don’t remember what I paid for my club $99 or $129 but a lot more enjoyable then the $300 or $400 for the real TaylorMade R9. This now I was able to afford and the club looks just like the genuine thing. The truth is later I bought the clone TaylorMade R7 clubs. They added 20 yards to each iron and then to finish it off on the course people would inquire from me how I liked the new TaylorMade R7 clubs. Based on who it was sometimes I’d tell them that they are knockoffs and oftentimes I would not.
Anyway to stop rambling on, if you are in the need or want of new clubs and on a budget checkout Golf Discount Center they have clones of Ping, Nike, TaylorMade and Callaway which are their best sellers. I am not saying the Name Brands are not worth it if you can afford $1500-$2000 for a set of clubs I am sure you’ll get your moneys worth.
