Golf Lessons – Golf Chipping Tips
One of the best tips to use is to work to keep the ball from going too high up in the air during a chip shot. An important goal is to look to get as much of a roll onto the green as you can when you complete a chip shot. This is so that it will be easier for your ball to be able to roll onto the green and to get closer to the cup. If you get the ball to land about three feet beyond the start of the green you will be able to get a good roll going for your ball.
One rule to use with this in mind is the 6-8-10 Formula. If you are going to make a chip shot with a 6 iron you should get the ball to fly one quarter of the way after the initial hit and have it roll the rest of the way. With an 8 iron you should have the ball fly one third of the way and have the rest as a roll. For a pitching wedge it will need to be half and half between the fly and roll.
If your chip shot is going to be on the fringe you should use an 8 iron for a low fly. If you are on the rough or in a bunker a pitching wedge is going to be a better option to use. A pitching wedge is one that will work for a longer shot. This club will be especially useful for cases where you do not have a large amount of green to work with for your chip shot.
Finally if the rough is especially heavy a sand wedge will be better. A sand wedge can work to cut through heavy grass than other types of clubs can.
Be sure to use these golf chipping tips for your golf game. You can get your ball to get to a spot you want it to be at through a good chip and with the right processes a chip can get you out of a tight spot with ease.
