How can I get affiliate marketing to work for me?

I know how affiliate marketing works but I'm a little confused about how to get people to my site. Lets say for example that I want my website to sell golf products (through affiliates). I've heard "content is king" but how do I write about golf to put on my site? I think I may be missing the point and any help would be good. Thanks.

You need targeted traffic coming to your site. If you're selling something about "golf swing" for example, then you want people who are interested in improving their golf swing to find your content.

1. what words would people type into the search engines to find your product? those then become your keywords. Keeping in mind competition, long-tail keywords…

2. put out content…articles, videos, blog posts, etc… with those keywords on it.

This is the simplistic way to explain how to get targeted visitors to your site.
