Golf Putters?????????
I want to get a scotty cameron, but they are expensive. what is a good golf putter, (known brand) that looks cool and complex. (AND CHEAP!!!!)
Your description of a putter tells me that your totally missing the essence of what to look for in a putter….and I am not saying this in a bad way…however, the simple fact is…
You can purchase a Scotty for $$$ and still 3 putt from 5 feet away…or you can purchase a $14 putter and do the same…which would you feel more embarrassed about?
Putter is a deep feel-to-the-inner-senses that is communicated all the way up the arms.
There are so many variety of putters out there for any sucker to buy…each creating the illusion of style, performance & technology of the latest greatest materials that has been put together in space of new aged aluminum that is eco-friendly and reduces carbon emmisions, you get what Im saying?
If your going to shop for a putter…bring your own golf ball that you always use…dont use the ones that they have on the practice greens…believe me, they are not going to use pro V1s…they will use the least expensive balls, because they will get picked up and walk away.
If you are of a certain price range…lets say $40…that is your target…
The idea is not to seek a brand new putter model range for that $40…but, the ones that are selling for $75…those are the models that you should be testing…because at that price, you should be able to find a quality putter…and once you do, then you walk away from that store…find it on Ebay…and seek that price…get it! That is the way to shop for a putter…you know what your getting, you have already test driven it…you are hoping to find a seller that has taken good care of it, just as you will.
me personally, I liked the odyssey sabertooth and the Rife barbados mallet style. ended up getting the sabertooth. (lost the auction on the Rife but won the Odyssey) kinda narrowed it down. still no disappointment in the sabertooth.
I have a two handicap. I have a old Designed by Arnold Palmer Wilson putter that sells on EBay for $600. I tried putting with it just because it was worth so much. after 4 months I put it in the closet. I can't putt worth a lick with it. It's just one of those things I have collected over the years. I have putted with my current Ping putter for as long as I can remember. I've tried others, I've just can't make as many putts with the newer models. All that to say find a brand and model you like and try and find a used one. Check Craigslist or Ebay. Lots of people have more money than sense and they have a closet full of putters. you might be able to get a great putter for a nice price. good luck.
Putters and drivers tend to be similar addictive items to all golfers. Some of us blow a ton on just the right driver (many times for all the wrong reasons) and the same with putters. I myself am a recovering driver junkie. That being said I had the same Slotline putter for 15 years until it was damaged beyond repair in an auto accident. after some trial and error I finally bought a Rife but after a few rounds and a few missed putts that I shouldn't have I may go out find an old and boring Slotline. but if your dead set on a similar putter to a Scotty, as a previous poster mentioned try the Cleveland VIP milled. I tried it and felt no difference between it and a Scotty Cameron, in fact I almost bought it.
Only you know what actually fits your eye. a putter is a very personal choice……It has to look good to you…..It has to feel good to you……and it has to be able to perform well for you. Asking us what putters you should look at is almost like asking that cute girl that sits next to you in home room what underwear you should wear to school tomorrow. get my drift?
