Does one use the same golf swing all the time except for putting?

I have just started hitting balls at a golf simulator. So far I am just on the driving range and do a full swing. does the swing change when one plays golf on a real course as one gets nearer the green? What I mean is do you hit it with a less full swing or does changing the clubs take care of the differences in distances?

No, you can only carry 14 clubs so they're aren't enough to have a full swing for each.

You have to hit pitches (half swings) and chips( sort of like a putting stroke).

in general , yes, except that your iron swing speed will be slower than your driver swing (natural), and yes club distances are based on more loft per same swing …a lot of players will club up, and hit 3/4 swings when close to the greens with less backswing and follow thru to get more control of the ball flight and release on to the green…

The swing definitely changes with both the clubs you use, and what you intend to do with the shot. Hitting off the tee with a driver, for instance, you use a long, sweeping stroke, avoiding hitting the ground. Using irons, you will use a shorter stroke, hitting down on the ball. Pitching and chipping also vary depending on the carry and roll you want. You can only learn so much on a driving range, you must get our on a course and play to get a better feel for what you can do with each club. good luck with your game.

An experienced golfer should have the following types of swings…
-driving (hit in deep into the fairway)
-long irons (full swing it somewhere on or near the green)
-short irons (full swing but make it close)
-pitching (all accuracy)
-chipping or flopping (get it as close as possilbe)
-putting (get in your home ball)

Yes, your swing will usually change when you get closer to the green. Even if your club changes, you're still going to have to adjust your swing accordingly most of the time.

Absolutely not, i change my shot with each club and position of the ball.

I need help finding a website that sells brand new older model golf clubs for discount prices?

I have a very old set of golf clubs that I bought about 15 years ago and now I am looking to up grade my clubs now that I will be playing more golf this year then I have ever played in the past. I am looking to get a new set of Iron clubs and I would like the brand to be Taylor made because I know that they are a really good set to have. now I am looking to pay no more then $200 dollars for a brand new set of Taylor made Irons. I was thinking maybe if I am to buy a older model set of irons I might be able to get them for discount prices and maybe in the price range that I am looking at. now if anyone knows of a website that I might be able to go to and check out older models of Taylor made golf clubs that are from like the years 2000 – 2008 and they would be at discount prices then say getting a new set from 2009 – 2010 please let me know the website. Finally please also give me websites that also sell other old model golf clubs that are brand new so that if I can not find a set of Taylor made golf clubs in my price range I can look and see if other brands have discount clubs that might be in my price range.

Hi bill,

I know you mentioned that you were after TaylorMade clubs specifically but check out this link

http://www.golfshopdirect.co.uk/SelectProd.do?prodId=77

They are Brand New Callaway Irons which are last years model which have been marked by the carpet in the shop. They are as good as new and fantastic value at that price..

I don't have the links, but you could try GlobalGolf.com, 3ballsgolf.com, or GolfEtail.com. I've personally dealt with Global and Etail (for golf shafts), and have never had a bad transaction. They do eBay auctions, but they also have the "buy It Now" option on a lot of stuff.

Go on www.thebestcoupons.co.uk and type in 'golf' in the "search" field. You'll find two or three companies dealing with golf in the UK and the most reliable discount codes.

Try these amazing clubs, feel is amazing and they are super cheap brand new. I threw my cleveland irons away for these www.kujagolf.com

Play it again sports

Cleveland vs adams golf?

right now im hiotting my dads old cleveland action 588 irons…he just got a set of callawyas… but im thinking about getting the adams a7. I hit the adams and i love the feel of them. I this is big step up from the clevelands to the adams

No, they're both in the same "major OEM" category. However, if you like the feel of the Adams, there's nothing wrong with getting them. just make sure to get fit for them first!!

Play the ones that feel best to you, an uncomfortable club will never hit well.

A History of Golf Clubs

The origins of golf clubs can be traced back to 1826 where club maker Robert Forgan of Scotland used American hickory wood to manufacturer shafts. Hickory was soon adopted as the wood of choice despite cheaper alternatives available.

1848 saw the conception of the Guttie golf balls which saw traditional long nose golf clubs become obsolete. A new generation of golf club was required to cope with the increased stress associated with this new type of golf ball. these clubs best resemble the modern set of woods in today’s game of golf.

In the early nineteenth century, golfers associated Scotland with quality golf equipment in the same way that we associate fine chocolate being produced in Belgium and Switzerland – at this time golf equipment production in Scotland was considered to be an extremely profitable and worthy business.

At the start of twentieth century, America had started to manufacturer and export golf clubs in large volumes, whilst replacing outdated materials such as hickory, with hard woods such as beech – the new choice for golf club heads. A growing demand for hand-forged metal club heads had also arrived at this time – in 1902, the first groove-faced irons appeared and offered an increased amount of backspin, compared to wooden heads.

Despite an initially slow take-up, steel shafts had been experimented with since the late nineteenth century. Steel shafts became legalised in 1929, after the Prince of Wales was spotted using a set of steel shafted golf clubs at St. Andrews. as popularity grew for the steel shafted golf club – the US Open was the first major tournament to feature this new type of golf club.

My golf setup and what should I add to bring my golf score down and increase my skill.?

Driver- Taylormade Tour Burner 10.5 260 yds
Hybrid- Orlimar H830 Hybrid 19.0 215 yds
Hybrid- Srixon AD Hybrid 21.5 190 yds
Irons: Tayormade 360 Irons (6-SW)
6i- 175 yds
7i- 160 yds
8i- 150 yds
9i- 140 yds
PW- 125 yds
SW- 110 yds

What adjustments should I make?

You have a good setup from what I see, I wouldn`t be too concerned about what clubs you have. you have a good all around set up and you just need practice. Learn how to hit all of the clubs in your bag well, and practice lots. Clubs don`t increase skill, it`s the golfer. I would suggest you look at a 3 wood because of the gap between your driver and 3 hybrid. and for a 60* lob wedge, this club hurts more peoples games than it helps them. It's a tricky club to play, I took it out of my bag for two reasons. One: it adds too much thought to those short iron shots and what club I should be using. Two: I was so inconsistent with it that I was constantly adding strokes to my game. Good luck and if you have any questions just send me a message.

Nothing physical or material. You're already longer than the male average (260 yds v. 235 yds.) and you know how far you hit each club (there are too many golfers who don't know how valuable this is). You're farther ahead of the game at 14 than I was at 23!

If there was anything to add, I'd say focus on course management. Learn where and where not to land your ball. Use the shot you're on to set up the next shot. Here's an example: on a par 4, there's bunkers on the right, but the green is bigger on the left. you want to aim your drive to the left, to set up an easier 2nd shot. That's kind of simplified, but you get the point.

Don't fix anything with your set up. Don't focus on the yardages- you're still growing and getting stronger. just focus on the space between your ears… develop that, and you'll improve sooner than you think.

Maybe add a 60 degree wedge. Something to give you a shorter distance club ( you seem to hit a ways). Other than that I would say play alot of golf as you have a pretty good setup.

It aint the clubs its you hit more greens

I think you could use a 3 wood. Other than that practice, practice, practice. Work on 100 to the green.

My golf setup and what should I add to bring my golf score down and increase my skill.?
