Golf Recruitment – How You Can Make it to the College Level

If you are trying to get involved in the golf recruitment process and make it to the next level of golf, there are some things you need to be aware of. These keys can make the difference between golfing at the college level or golfing at your local country club for the next four years.

First of all, the golf recruitment process is very competitive. there are thousands of golfers all across the world trying to get into American colleges and universities to play golf on a scholarship. can you blame them? How else can you get a free education and play free golf all the time? Talk about a win-win situation if you love golf.

Second, you must be a well above average golfer to play in college. there are just so many good young golfers out there now that you can’t just be an average golfer and expect college coaches to have an interest in you. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to be Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus to play in college, but your game must be well above the average high school golfer.

And last, you have to let coaches know about you and what you can do for their golf program. I see so many kids trying to get into the golf recruitment process and they have no clue about how to make it happen. If you are among the best of the best high school golfers, coaches will automatically find you. otherwise, you have to grab their attention and get them interested in you!

Take control of your golf recruitment process by contacting coaches and marketing and promoting yourself to college coaches. If you do, you just might play the game you love at the next level!

After Golf School – Jobs That Are Available at Graduation

The idea of attending golf school sounds ideal. you get to spend a couple of years learning about a sport that you love, improving your game and working on completing an education which you hope will lead to a lucrative and satisfying career in the future. But, wait a minute. Exactly what career might you obtain after graduating from golf school? After all, you love the thought that you might land a professional golf career out of the deal but you realize that the likelihood of that isn’t terrific. it could happen, but you don’t want to spend your money on an education that has only a small chance of getting you closer to your dream. Don’t worry; there are a number of other jobs that you can get after graduation from a golf college. These jobs are all related to the golf industry but will let you explore different interests as well, interests which may increase your likelihood of obtaining a job upon graduation.

For example, if you are interested in golf but are also interested in education, you could work on getting a job teaching golf. There are many different locations and settings in which golf instructors are needed. Many high schools have golf teams that need coaching. Resorts hire golf professionals to teach their skills to beginners who are just trying to enjoy a few days out on a luxurious golf course. Busy professionals pay to have private golf lessons for themselves or their young children. and golf schools also hire people to teach at their institutions. Teaching golf is one of the major careers that people graduating from a golf college enter. Those who get a jump start by working in some form of golf instruction during their college years are, of course, the ones who see the most success in making the transition from student to teacher.

Perhaps education isn’t your thing. you may be great at sales and marketing. if you have a penchant for sales or any aspect of marketing, you can get a job in the sales and marketing division of the golf industry. Golf schools offer courses that teach you the skills that you need to head large marketing divisions of major golf organizations. There are many different types of jobs related to this. for example, you could be a marketing copywriter for a golf publication. Alternatively, you could work as the head of sales for a company specializing in certain kind of golf clubs or golf attire. As long as you are willing to work at making the sale and letting people know what’s great about the product, you can do well in this area. Since you already love golf, you’re one step ahead of people who have marketing skills in other industries.

Maybe you have a more creative interest that you would like to indulge while making the most out of your golf education. There are many different ways that you could use golf school as a launching pad for combining golf with other creative endeavors. if you are interested in photography, you could start networking during your college years to meet people who will later employ you as a photographer at special golf events. Similarly, perhaps you are interested in alternative healing. Use your golf school time to get to know people working at golf resorts. Later, you may come back to these people to get hired on as an alternative healer or physical therapists specializing in massage or therapy for golf injuries. Golf school is just a stepping-stone to a number of interesting and lucrative careers. Deciding what type of golf career you will pursue after graduation is limitless.

Golf Balls: Some Little Known Interesting Facts

Without golf balls we would not be able to play golf. but often we don’t give a second thought to those little balls we play with each and every game we play. So I researched about golf balls and found some of these little known facts, and now I’ll share them with you.

Bridgestone Golf is the number one golf ball maker out of Japan and is used by such notables as Fred Couples and Davis Love III. the company was founded by Shojiro Ishibashi in 1931 and began making golf balls in 1935. the company also owns the Precept line of balls.

Callaway Golf, founded by Ely R. Callaway Jr., based in Carlsbad, California, got started with golf clubs initially and then moved into making golf balls. Callaway developed the Rule 35 golf ball, which they claim will allow the player to use just one ball regardless of the conditions because it contains a unique combination of control of distance, spin, and durability, along with a great feel allowing the golfer to no longer need to second guess himself when hitting the shot. through smart buys they have acquired Top-Flite Golf and Ben Hogan Golf.

In the United States, Dunlop Sports, who manufactures equipment for many sports, is owned by Sumitomo Rubber Industries. Two top golfers who play with a Dunlop ball are Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke, who follow a long line of competitors to use the Dunlop ball since the first ball was manufactured at Dunlop’s factory in Kobe, Japan, in 1930. most recently they have begun production of the Srixon Z-Star golf ball, which is quickly becoming known for its great spin, its good arrow alignment and its great sound. the other ball the company has introduced this year is the Srixon Z-Star X golf ball. These balls have the industry buzzing because of their ability to stop on approach shots, while maximizing yardage regardless of the weather, and their ability to transfer energy while feeling great on the greens.

A golf manufacturer you may have never heard of is Kasco Golf. They started producing balls in 1982 and they make a series of balls named RR Soft, RR Long, Dualmode, and Kasco Royal. the company originally produced golf gloves in their factory and the production of the golf ball gave birth to Kasco Europe. Their ball manufacturing process was patented in 1988 and is designed so that the golfer looses less power and distance if they hit off center.

The most profitable name, with annual sales of $1.2 billion, in the golf ball industry is Titleist, along with their Pinnacle line. Both companies are owned by Fortune Brands which was started in 1932 by Philip E. Young and Fred Bommer. However on December 8, 2010, the company announced their plans to sell the Titleist line. the plan is to sell the company to maximize profits for their shareholders.

So the next time you hit that little white ball you will know a little more about who made it. And even though you may have favored one brand over another, as you’ve found out, it’s common for companies to have more than one golf ball brand under their umbrella.

What's the best way to learn to play golf?

I'd like to start playing golf and have never played the game before. Anyone have any good tips on how I should start? should I visit the driving range first? How long should I practice at the driving range? What brand golf clubs would be good for a beginner like me that's not too expensive?

I'd suggest getting a decent starter set of clubs or a good used set. then I'd take some lessons from a good pro in your area.

If I had it to do all over again, that's how I'd do it. I'm a self-taught golfer who got into alot of bad habits. took 3 lessons early this spring and am still trying to get rid of the bad habits.

hit the driving range.. you cant play the game if you cant hit the ball. get some lessons and practice before you hit the course. you will love it

i'd say sign up for group lessons as they are usually cheaper. you'll be introduced to the game, and get started on developing a repeatable swing. they'll usually have demo clubs there. after that, u can piece together a set. i'd recommend buying used. try www.globalgolf.com

or just buy on of those cheap boxed sets. it will work just fine. you'll soon realize that it matters more about the person holding the clubs, than the clubs themselves.

Are the Callaway X-24's any good?

I have been looking into getting a very nice set of golf clubs. I have been swinging the X-22 tour irons at the PGA superstore and I have fallen in love with them. are the X-24's any better? Does anybody know the differences between the two?

My belief is Callaway's using the 24's to start their run at Taylormade. the promise of added distance, through stronger lofts and longer club lengths. the 18's, 20's and 22's were very good clubs (with anything other than uniflex shafts) and still are today. I wouldn't bother with the 24's… you'll get a solid all-around performer with the earlier models- for a much better price.

Are the Callaway X-24's any good?
