What would be your 5 best wedges for putting spin on the golf ball ?

Lets say your playing a high spin ball like a pro v1 and course conditions are right . Ive read a few sites that say the grooves dont matter, Its how you hit down on the ball .
Will a cheap wedge at walmart put just as much spin on the ball as a spin mill ?

I played the Wal Mart specials for years. I never had trouble putting spin on the ball with full shots. however I just purchased 3 Vokeys in the last few years. there is a HUGE difference with touch shots around the green. I always wondered how pros could stop a 10 yard chip like a butterfly with sore feet. Now I can do it with those wedges (and a good ball like a Pro V1). the ball just thuds when it hits the green and stops about 5 or 10 feet faster than with my old (cheap) wedges. so I am convinced the wedge itself makes a big difference in the long run.

I play a Nike Pro Combo sand wedge(the same that Tiger Woods uses; I used it before he did though) and I've gotten spin with a range ball. Grooves matter. I hit a bunker shot one day out of thin sand bunker and heard the ball spinning as it left the bunker. the ball landed and spun sideways in the spot it landed. Grooves matter.

I'm not sure because I've never hit one, but wedges are feel clubs and you never want to skimp on those. if you're playing Pro V1's that are $50 a box then $120 for a new Titleist Vokey shouldn't hurt you too much. Plus, aside from a driver and a putter you'll hit your wedge more than any club in your bag. it would be like buying a cheap bed even though you spend a third of your like in it.

spin with wedges makes the ball go lower so y not learn to hit the ball high and eleminate spin this way i feel it is easy to judge wat the ball is goin to do wen it lands. some greens are goin to b more responcive to spin and others wont

Grooves play a large impact on the control and spin of the ball. always keep the grooves of your irons and wedges clean. if not, you'll loose control and accuracy.

The Titliest Vokey wedge will get you some sick spin. you can chew up golf balls with that wedge.

Trying to decide upon three sets of used Golf Clubs?

Used to play quite a bit, but always with a cheap set of clubs. Haven't played much since. looking to replace stolen clubs

I wouldn't recommend any of those, you need to be playing equipment made in the last 2-3 years. and don't listen to the dude that says play blades, even a good percentage of pros don't use blades any more.

I would go with the 50dollar clubs as none a new wait to you can play again maybe replace the driver at a later date as I did. But it is personal if you like the look then buy it because if it feels and looks good then why not use it?

Fifty will get you back into the swing of things but the third set sounds good with a golf cart thrown in. you have the start of enjoyment ( and frustration) right at your fingertips. go for it!

Golf clubs have two major features that directly influence how far and how high the ball will go when hit correctly with each club. what you are looking at in the illustration is a full set of golf clubs, including the woods and the irons. Beginning on the left are the wood clubs (larger heads) numbered from 1 wood, 3 wood, 5 wood and 7 wood. Progressing the irons (smaller heads), starting from the left, are the 3 iron, 4 iron, 5 iron, 6 iron, 7 iron, 8 iron, 9 iron, 10 iron, and 11 iron (also known as the sand wedge). Note that there is a difference in length of one-half inch between each club in the set.

Remember from your high school physiccs class that the longer lever, the greater the force? It's OK if you do not remember, because I am reminding you now. with a longer club, applying the same amount of power, you will be able to generate more club head speed. the result will be a longer shot. Going back to high school physics again, the loft of the club face will determine the angle at which the ball bounces off the club face. Picture the extension of the magnet on the club face as representing the initial flight of the ball.

To gain a graphic perspective of the loft, or slant, of club faces, set a tee on the face of the club, with the flat end of the tee on the face. For the purpose of illustration we have placed a magnet on the club faces of a 10 iron and 4 iron.

In most sets there will be a difference of four degrees of loft between clubs progressively through the set.

Is Texan golf set any good? looking at buying the texan 17 pieces classic set for about $250 AUD

I haven't heard of this product in the 6 years I've been playing golf. Personally I would make the choice of buying a product based on my ability to play and the budget that I have. This doesn't mean that I would discard this product but usually these manufacturers don't hold the expertise to build an solid set of clubs in terms of performance. most pro shops usually have some trade-ins on stock you can buy without spending too much and that can fit your needs . These clubs are not old, not damaged and can give you a great performance for the price you paid to acquire them.

Never heard of it.

A 17 piece set for $250 sounds mostly like a starter set. It's not going to be anywhere close to Callaway, Titleist, Nike, etc., but if you are a beginner, you won't notice a difference anyway.

Are Cleveland golf products quality products?

When I think of the better Golf companies I think, NIKE, Titelist, Callaway. I never really heard of Cleveland until I was given a set of Cleveland clubs for Christmas.

Cleveland clubs are great and they are right up there with the brands you listed especially for wedges, in which they are disputably the best at making. they are a relatively high end brand. and their products are very good quality. Enjoy your set of clubs.

Yes I use 2 cleveland wedges 52 and 56 degree, driver, 3 wood, and 5 wood.

In my opinion Cleveland golf clubs are definately in the top 3 club makers. All of my clubs are Cleveland except my putter and 3 wood. they just don't advertise as much as Nike and Titleist.

Awesome brand. My HiBore XL driver added 25 yards to my drives. Vijah Singh and Bo Weekly both play Cleveland Drivers.

yeah Clevelands are good they just don't advertise as much as the others so that's why you might not recognize them. they are known especially for their wedges, but the drivers and irons are great too.

I'd play Cleveland over Nike or Callaway any day of the week. I think they make better quality stuff than either of them.

Cleveland has been around for a while, and up until the mid 90s, they made the best persimmon woods which were used by about 80% of the pros world wide- their wedges are very very good, and they are more known for their high quality blades or players clubs than their game improvement clubs.

They are one of the few mfgs remaining that do thier own R&D and have a solid US supply base.

And, Roger Cleveland is a decent guy.

Cleveland Golf/Srixon clubs are fantastic in every way. I have have a friend who is a tour player for them and i also play for them and all i can say is that they are great clubs to have especially there wedges i can say they are they best on tour today. but what i like most about Cleveland Golf/Srixon is how innovative they are with every piece of equipment they make and how different they make their clubs from everyone else.
